Marriage License Filing

In order to make your marriage at the Chapel official, there are a few steps to take prior to your Nashville wedding:

  1. First, you will need to submit a Marriage License application online.

You can find the Marriage License application and detailed instructions regarding your license on the Davidson County Clerk’s website via the link below:

2. Once you submit your online application, you will need to go to the Davison County Clerk’s office in person to pick up your marriage license.

You can find or reach the Davidson County Clerk's Office at:

Davidson County Clerk’s Office

700 2nd Avenue South Nashville, TN 37210 615-862-6256

3. When you arrive at the Clerk’s office you will need to show proof of identification.

A valid driver's license, government issued photo ID, or passport. You will also need proof of your social security number. If you have been issued

a social security number, you must provide either a social security card, W-2 or tax document with the full social security number listed.

4. Once you provide the required documentation in person at the Clerk’s office, you are ready to visit the Chapel.

Your Marriage License is valid for 30 days after you pick it up from the County Clerk’s office. This means that you must have an authorized officiant sign the

marriage certificate within 30 days of issuance (the date you picked up the license). The Chapel will have an officiant on site when you celebrate your big day!

5. Return the signed marriage license to the Davidson County Clerk’s office.

In order to make your marriage official, you must return the signed marriage license to the Davidson County Clerk’s office to be filed after your ceremony and you

will receive your Marriage Certificate. You may take the license back to the Clerk’s office yourself in person or we offer the option to take care of this final step for

you. Should you decide to have the Chapel file your license for you, you will be mailed your Marriage Certificate from the clerk’s office to an address provided by you

at the venue.
